I have a 2010 Lance 1880 and love it. I did not want the slide out issues and the #1880 weighs the same as the 1685 but is a lot bigger inside. No issues with the tanks and Lance is top notch quality. I think most of the issues you mentioned involved 1685's and a Lance google group.
