The Miata is cheaper to modify by a long shot. For some perspective I also own a 991.2 Porsche Carrera S and drive the Miata more often. My Carrera is tuned to about 470 HP with Sports Chrono and Sport Exhaust. My other recent Porsche was a 2013 Boxster S. All in all the Miata is more entertaining. Not nearly as fast.
