You can just use the ash for the same ability though, so you can choose to do it with Unsheathe ashes. Pretty sure you can find them around Agheel Lake. And keen (or other affinities) being good just depends on your stats. It drops the base weapon damage to increase the scaling, so your total damage only goes up if the matching stat is high enough.
