I picked up 2x Coleman Powermate 5000 generators on CL for $50/ea. Both were in rough/terrible (not running) shape but now both start/run excellent but neither make power. On one the brushes are chipped and cracked and the other is missing the bearing that supports the inner winding so I'm not worried about either not making power (at this point).
