In Disney merchandising, as well as colloquially, her name has been used as one word because it rolls off the tongue, and her position as a Tinker is nowhere in the Disney movie. It's only in the more recent TinkerBell movies that JM Barrie's original lore has been reintroduced and she is correctly portrayed as a Tinker fairy.

For me the now missing Tinkerbell intro was at the beginning of the classic Disney animated movies of the 1950's & 60's era. I'm in the UK.. growing up in the late 70's & 80's never watched the Disney channel or tv show.. so this was definitely movies only from my experience. This is definitely the one that I personally remember, but what's interesting is that it doesn't seem 100% official.
